A Letter from the Initiator

Hello,

My name is Benjamin Chiang, and I am the initiator of the Inoculation Project.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website and learn more about what we are trying to achieve.

It has been at least 30 years since I first saw the first ever scam email. It is frustration that until today, every day, ordinary people are still falling for scams, misinformation and impersonation attempts. With AI, we're going to see increasingly sophisticated forms of manipulation.

No government agency, technology company, or cybersecurity expert could solve it alone. The scale is simply too large. Every citizen, parent, student, business owner, employee, and community leader will eventually face these challenges.

That led me to ask a different question:

What if we could help society become more resistant to deception in the same way a vaccine helps the body become resistant to disease?

That question became the foundation of the Inoculation Project.

We're using our God given method of defense to fight this scourge.

And we want to do it empirically and systematically.

The Inoculation Project is built around three ideas.

First, through Zhun Boh, we encourage people to actively identify scams, misinformation, and deceptive tactics. Rather than treating people as potential victims, we invite them to become part of society's "Purple Team" — citizens who can think like defenders and help others stay safe.

Second, through community engagement, we bring people together through workshops, talks, discussions, and practical learning experiences. Building resilience is ultimately a social activity. People learn best from one another.

Third, through our Trust Directory, we hope to make it easier for individuals to verify legitimate organisations and harder for scammers to exploit trust for their own gain.

This is not my project alone. The challenges we face belong to all of us, and the solutions must be built collectively. My hope is that the Inoculation Project becomes a platform where citizens, businesses, schools, community groups, and public institutions can contribute to a safer and more trustworthy society.

Whether you are here to learn, participate, support, or simply explore, I am grateful that you are part of this journey.

Together, we can build a society that is harder to deceive, quicker to respond, and more resilient in the face of emerging threats.

Thank you for being here.

Warm regards,

Benjamin Chiang
